Zebra print!

Here's a fun nail design I did a few days ago :)

I actually used a strengthener as a base coat, and used LA color's "Atomic" as the base color. Used LA color's nail art deco in "black" for the stripes. I just used small strokes and just had fun with it. It was super easy because not all the stripes had to be the same :) For the ring finger, I just used "Hell to the No" by OPI as the base color.

Just for fun, here's the poster that's hanging on the wall to the right in the polish picture :P

I LOVE Scott Pilgrim lol :)

Get ready for fall!!

 Monday, August 22, 2011

Hey guys, it’s been a while :[ School has started back up, so goodbye summer. Good news though, I’ve been trying out some new eyeshadows that I absolutely adore, I can’t wait to share my opinions.

First up; Alima Pure's Fall Runway Collection. In this collection, you will receive 4 gorgeous colors (all of which are loose powder):

- PRESS PASS LUMINOUS SHIMMER SHADOW: A stunning shimmery dark taupe. Great for the outer corner of your eyelid for a light smoked out look.
- BACKSTAGE SATIN MATTE  EYESHADOW: Looks almost white in my swatch, but it is actually a very pretty pale pink. Perfect matte highlight for the brow. Its satiny feel is very soft, and I love it. Having a matte highlight kind of tones down all the shimmer you’re using all over your lids, so you don’t look like a total disco ball.
- FRONT ROW LUMINOUS SHIMMER EYESHADOW: A gorgeous shimmering pale gold. Gold shadows, like Front Row, seriously grab my attention. I love softer golds, and when I tried this one out, I fell in love with its beauty. Use this color all over the lid, and under the lower lashed for an extra “pop.”
- CATWALK LUMINOUS SHIMMER EYELINER: Shimmery black (comes off as a gunmetal color when used wet). When creating a look with all these colors, using “Catwalk” as an eyeliner is like putting the finishing touch on a masterpiece. This liner doesn’t come off super bold as it appears, but more subtle. Subtle enough to work.

All four of these colors are only available for a limited time only, so grab a set while you can! The collection is priced at $30, and Alima Pure will take $2 from each set and donate it to the Global Fund for Women. And Alima Pure carries the European BDIH “Certified Natural Cosmetics” seal which guarantees that it’s safe for both the body and environment. They use only pure minerals in their products. No dyes, carmine, unnatural preservatives or harmful chemicals. Alima Pure is available at select beauty boutiques and spas, and at http://www.alimapure.com/

Overall, I really liked these shadows. I would say the only con would be that they're too shimmery for me. I personally love matte shadows. And I guess another thing would be that they're a bit light and soft, so these would be great for daytime looks for maybe work or school, not so much for a nighttime dramatic look.

Stick around for my next review :]

L.A. colors are so cool, they sent me these lovely polishes: [left to right] Black, Silver Glitter, &  Fuel
Atomic && Shock

Fuji Purple (my favorite) && Electric Shock

Fuel && Fuji Purple

Fuel and Electric Charge are kinda similar in color, Fuel just has some shimmer to it and Electric Charge is more of a creme polish (along with fuji purple, atomic, and shock). Overall I really liked these polishes. I would totally purchase more colors :)))))

TouchBack by Colormark

 Monday, July 18, 2011

As most of you know, there are some young adults (in their 20's and 30's) that already have gray hair growing. So in saying that, this product I’m about to review is not just for the middle aged/older adults, but for the young too. TouchBack by Colormark is a super duper handy temporary hair color marker that eliminates the appearance of gray roots. It’s a great product for touch ups if you don’t have time to get your hair colored right away.  Keep it in your purse, or in the bathroom when you’re getting ready for work, school, parties, etc. It’s super easy to use and it stays on until shampooed out.

To apply:
  • Make sure your hair is completely clean and dry.
  • Use the special comb that is included, and slide the comb over the hair (as close to the scalp as possible) and then start applying the product in long strokes. Usually around the temples is where you would find most of your gray hair. So in that area, if you have resistant gray hair, try holding the marker in place for a few seconds to let it absorb the color.
  • Wait a minute or two for it to dry, and then comb out.

TouchBack is the easiest touch-up pen ever. It won’t flake off and its patented formula uses certified hair colors, but without the harsh chemicals (no ammonia or peroxide). That makes this product gentle to use on your hair!

Visit the TouchBack website for more information :]

Violent lips

 Friday, July 15, 2011

Violent lips, what can I say? Uhh, they are so cool?! I’ve never tried lip tattoos, so when I tried these bad boys out I was definitely amazed. They have sooo many prints to choose from; cheetah/leopard prints, polka dots, and even fishnet designs! I loved fake tattoos when I was a child, these work the same way. Each pack contains 3 applications, and a step-by-step directions card to help you if you’re a first timer like I was. It doesn’t even take that long to get the hang of it. They stay on for about 4-8 hours, depending on your skin type and care. And if anyone is wondering, I heard they still stay put even if you’re kissing/making out with someone. I can’t wait to use the leopard print for Halloween this year!

To apply:
  • Make sure your lips are dry and free of any oils or products and punch out the pre-cut patterns.

  • Then open your mouth like you’re at the doctors and the doctor is telling you to say “Ahhh”. That is the “Ahhh shape”.
  • Next measure your lip length (the vertical lines) and cut at the end corners of your mouth.
  • Make the Ahhh shape again, and measure the depth of your lip (horizontal lines). This is where you will cut along the starting point of your water line. The tattoo will adhere better on a dry surface, so avoid applying the tattoo past your water line because it will start to tear.

Here is a picture of the horizontal/vertical lines
  • Next, with your cutout positioned in the perfect spot (design facing the lips), wet a paper towel, or a washcloth, and dab it onto the backside. Don’t be afraid to use a lot of water.
  • Wait about 40 seconds, and then gently peel off.
  • Dab lightly to smoothen out any rough patches.
  • Optional: You can add a lip balm on top once it dries. Lip gloss I wouldn't recommend, because it might strip away the tattoo. And you can fill in any spots left out with a same color lip liner.

Finished results J
THE RED LOVE <3
I love the movie "Kickass" hahahah :)

Here are other patterns:

THE CORAL CHEETAH:

THE LEOPARD:

THE ORAGAMI:

There is a tutorial on the Violent Lips website if you want to check out the application in action http://www.violentlips.com/
(There are a bunch of patterns to choose from! So check them out!!)

To remove: just dab on some mineral oil or baby oil and wait for about 2-3 minutes, then wipe with a textured cloth. Avoid eating greasy/oily foods. And for the next time you apply another set, save the already measured cutouts and use them as a guide to save time!

This product is FDA approved and is not tested on cute little animals :)

Streekers: the coolest temporary hair color ever!

 Tuesday, July 12, 2011

Hey guys! Check out this product I received called Streekers, the temporary hair color :)

Pink and Blue

Streekers is my first temporary hair color product, so I was super excited to be trying it out. Application is fairly easy. All you have to do is take the sponge-tip applicator, lift the strip of hair you want colored, and apply from root to tip. Let it dry completely, and I mean completely, and comb through. If you get some on your skin, don’t worry it’ll wash off with soap and water. It may stain your skin for a little while, but it goes away. Works better on lighter hair colors, and can be used over any kind of hair product (hair spray, mousse, styling gel, etc.). Streekers keeps hair soft, and it’s neat because it completely washes out in the shower. You can start over and change looks! If you’re someone like me who doesn’t want to commit to a long lasting hair color, try out this product.

Streekers come in 8 vibrant colors: pink, blue, ultra violet, red, green, yellow, orange, and purple. I have the blue and pink, and I absolutely adore the pink. I have fairly dark hair, but the way it turns out on me is pretty awesome. The blue doesn’t show up too much, but it’s still a little noticeable. Since this product works better on blonde or lighter hair colors, I can’t really show you with my hair. But! I borrowed one of my sister’s Barbies, and gave her a little makeover lol. The colors definitely showed up brighter on her.

Best picture I could take that showed the colors. I hate how dry my hair looks :(

Overall, I really like this product. It gave me that extra pop of color, and I also thought the applicator was pretty neat. It made application really easy and it picked up the right amount of product. I really enjoyed the pink, I got a bunch of compliments on it!

Sorry I've been away for a while :( I've been pretty busy with school stuff and getting ready for my brother's graduation party. Wooo! Hahahah, stay tuned! I've got more good stuff to come :)

My favorite cream liner review

 Wednesday, June 22, 2011

Elf’s cream liners are only 3 bucks, and they are the bomb. I have the “Ivory” and “Black.”

I use black as an actual liner, whereas I use ivory as a base for eyeshadows. Ivory isn’t as creamy as black (its kind of chunky :/ ), so it’s harder to use as a liner. I thought it would be more of a white color, but it’s more of a shimmery pearl. I didn’t want to throw it away so I played around with it and found it is amazing as a base. I used to use elf’s studio eyeshadow primer and then add the liner as a base, and the eyeshadow surprising stayed put. I did this when I ran out of my beloved Urban Decay primer potion and found it was just as good!

Ivory
Black
The black is suuuper creamy and very easy to work with. Elf claims that these liners are “Smudge-proof, budge-proof and water-resistant coverage for all day wear to combat against, sweat, tears and rain.” Waterproof? Ehh…kind of, but not really. I once used it for a baseball game I went to. Me and one of my girl friends went to a Tigers game, and I ended up using this product as “face paint” because it was so creamy! I accidentally touched my face a dozen times lol, but it remained the way it was. It did smudge a little, but it wasn’t too bad. When I removed it, it easily came off, which I do like because I hate tugging at my eyes to remove liner…and I had to go back out that night, so I’m glad it was able to come off without leaving my face with any trace of black on my cheeks.

For the price, how easy it is to use, and how versatile it is, I would continue to purchase this liner.

Check out this dupe of OPI's "Last Friday Night" from the Katy Perry collection!

"Hottie (831)" [pic taken outside]
I was in Bed Bath and Beyond's nail polish station, and I was browsing through the Sinful Colors Professionals section and I saw this color that reminded me of "Last Friday Night" by OPI. I do not own "Last Friday Night", so I looked up a picture and found they were actually similar. The OPI's glitter is definitely chunkier than the Sinful Color's, and is a bit darker, but very close. Hottie applies pretty sheer, I used about 3 coats. I would recommend layering it on a similar blue colored creme polish :)

I only paid $1.79 for "Hottie." I also have a yellow polish from sinful colors that I have yet to try. I would think for such a reasonable price, the results might not be so appealing, but we'll see.

-Stay tuned :)

Success?? You be the judge!!

 Saturday, June 18, 2011

Yesterday was, I know, the 10th day for my “Will it last?” test…but I was really busy yesterday. Soooo I woke up early and took pictures first thing ^_^ Here’s what I ended up with:

Left hand with top and base coat
My left hand was obviously better than my right because of the base and top coat. My middle finger was definitely worn down, and a little bit of my pinky finger chipped in the corner.

Right hand with polish alone
My right hang showed the most chips. My nails grow uber fast so I broke a couple nails :(

They look kinda gross, which is probably why I don't keep polish on for more than a week lol. But I think for 10 days, the end results were pretty average. I didn’t really expect for the polish to stay perfect, but for the amount of time I had them on, they looked pretty decent. They did wear down from like typing and stuff. Since “Bare Naked” is a nude, it was hard to tell if there were any chips, but the chips were clearly visible with the silver. A black or a darker color may have been the better choice to use when testing the lasting power of these polishes, but the nude was so beautiful I couldn’t resist.

That’s what I think about it…what do you guys think? :)

Kalayaan [kah-lay-ya-ahn]

 Sunday, June 12, 2011

Yesterday was the 2011 Kalayaan!! I got to be surrounded by hundreds of filipinos and eat awesome filipino food. Kalayaan means "liberty" or "freedom" in tagalog (the main language spoken in the Philippines). It's pretty much their Independence Day. It was so much fun. Unfortunately I didn't get too many pictures, and I forgot to take pics of the food :( But here's what I have to share:

Located @ Halmich Park, Warren MI

A couple of volleyball nets were up and there's a basketball court a little farther in the back to the right.
We love to dance :)

Joy and I (One of my best friends)

The top I wore was actually really bright yellow..I wish it had shown up that way, but I guess my camera couldn't handle it's awesome color. Oh well... I also wore my cute strawberry necklace from Claire's :] I LOVE strawberries! lol

Update!!!!

 Saturday, June 11, 2011

Okay so here's a quick update of my nails from Tuesday! Will it last another 6 days? Next Friday should be the 10th day. Please correct me if I'm wrong :]

My right hand with the polish alone.

My left hand with base/top coat.

I'm like, dying to pick at them because it's what I do after 4 days lol. I'm used to painting them every 4-5 days. But I'll resist the urge. I used about 3-4 coats of polish which I don't like because it takes forever to dry, even with a dry quick coat to speed up drying. But so far there are no chips on my left hand, and my right hand's middle finger has the tiniest chip, but you can barely tell it is even there unless you point it out. So far so good :) Sorry if the pictures aren't that great, I have a picnic to go to! So I'm in a little hurry, but I wanted to get this up. I'll have better pictures next time.

Stayyyy tuuuuned :]

ohhh *edit*

The silver only took about 2 coats tops :)

Will it last 10 days??

 Tuesday, June 7, 2011

Heller everyone :) I picked up a three new nail polishes the other day! Two of them are by Rimmel London, the other by Sinful Colors Professionals (which I will also review later on).

I reeeally like Rimmel cosmetics, and a while back I was really into black nails so I always bought Rimmel London’s Lasting Finish PRO nail lacquer in Black Satin (430). I really enjoyed the quality so I thought I’d buy a couple more. I got Bare Naked (a verrry pretty nude) and pure silver (metallic silver). The Lasting Finish PRO polishes claim to last up to 10 days, so I’m going to test that out. I applied my right hand with just the polish alone, and my left with a base (Gelous Advanced nail gel coat: Sally’s $5.49) and a top coat (Sally Hansen Hard as Nails UV top coat).

Day one:

I’ll update in a few days :)

Black Shatter!!

 Sunday, May 29, 2011

I absolutely LOVE nail polish! That’s where the “paint” in “Paint Me A Love Story” came from (the other half came from one of my favorite songs, “Love Story” by Taylor Swift). I paint my nails at least twice a week to keep them fresh and looking great. When I got my hands on OPI’s “Black Shatter,” I was sooo excited to try it out.

Black is one of my favorite colors and OPI is my favorite brand, so of course I knew I was going to fall in love with this polish. And I totally did, this nail polish is so badass. Crackle nail polish was big in the 80’s and is now making a comeback. To apply, first apply a coat of nail polish, whichever color you prefer (don’t forget to apply a basecoat), and let it dry completely. Once dry, apply “Black Shatter.” This can be a little tricky at first because it dries sooo fast, so try and brush the color on as quick as possible. If you want smaller cracks, I suggest applying a thin layer on top of the already dried color. If you want thick/bigger cracks, apply a thicker coat. Top it off with a good clear coat for a glossy finish. Although effects of this polish shows well with a lighter base color, I’ve tried “Black Shatter” with three different colors and they all turned out great (not all light shades), but my favorite is this combination:
"Dude Blue" (neon) by Milani underneath "Black Shatter"

Black Shatter is part of the Katy Perry collection by OPI. There are other colors in the collection: Teenage Dream (glittery pink), Not Like The Movies (metallic silver), Last Friday Night (glittery blue), & The One That Got Away (deep berry). I do not own any of these colors, but you can visit the OPI website to check them out for yourself: www.opi.com

I got my bottle of "Black Shatter" at Trade Secret for $8.50.
